leadership

To begin with, every organization should consider its current policies and activities and if the organization already places a high value on effective communication and, in particular, on meeting the communication needs of the vulnerable populations its serves, then it should be well prepared to move forward and meet the performance expectations in the remaining content areas.
I will say that the first skill I must employ when communicating to upper management, is to be selective about exactly what needs to be on the agenda and learn to distinguish between the problems I can solve on my own and those that must be passed up the chain. I will apply two ways to engage in communication with upper management by face-to-face and electronic and using all two is best option for me.
Face-to-face meeting is necessary, but sometimes might not be possible to get with the upper management face to face, even if is for few minutes could be very difficult at times. The most exciting new way to communicate best, is electronic and this could be done by an e-mail distribution to upper management makes it easy and can be done via work or home e-mail addresses. Like my work place now, we have electronic medical record, which we also use to communicate to each employee, and I would also communicate to the upper management using the communication page that upper management will see when they sign on for the day.

Leadership

The relationship that exists between business organizations, government of the nation and the society could be said to be symbiotic in the sense that all exists for one and none can exist without the other and this has developed throughout human existence. The aim of business now is not that of profit making alone, but satisfying other stakeholders and ensuring sustainable development. In the same vein, government does not just regulate business alone but has found itself a player in the market just as business influences government in its regulation through pressure groups and opinion molders.
A look at the input-output relationship shows that business relies heavily on the society to provide the inputs needed for its operation ranging from human and material resources to the capital needed for survival of the business. Business needs the society to consume its goods and services, serve as labour force, and help fight its cause when needed; while society benefits from business in the supply of its needs in terms of goods and services, employment opportunities, and the preservation of the environment. Society is organized, protected, and enriched by business and governmental entities. Government on the other hand provides the enabling environment and regulates the economy to ensure that business organizations conform to the rules of the game. Government is largely funded by taxes collected from business firms, and relies on society to maintain legitimacy and, in democracies, foster public opinion to direct its policies. Since all three have grown to be so interconnected and interdependent on each other in our global society, when one component fails or experiences a major change, the other two must respond. Generally, the sustainability and stakeholder concept is yet to have a solid root in the Nigerian scene. Findings show that ethical and moral consideration is still at its lowest ebb, as corruption, falsification and manipulation of accounts is on the increase.

Leadership

Honestly when I heard of YLI and signed up to go I was thinking ‘what am I getting
myself into?’ ‘I can’t believe I paid good money to go to a boring leadership camp. I won’t learn
anything that I don’t already know.’ I can’t tell you how wrong I was with those initial thoughts.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that during those 5 days I learned from some very
special people how to become a great leader and a great person, and I was also taught an
essential concept that I will use throughout my life: the Rotary Club 4- Way Test.
Picture this: you are going into your sophomore or junior year of high school. You love
soccer and it has been your favorite sport since you were a little kid. The fall season has just
ended and you are at the final meeting of the season. Your coach calls you over; he wants to talk
to you. He tells you that you need to start taking steroids. He says it will help out the team and
it will help you get a starting spot on the varsity team. As he says this, there is an implicit
meaning in his words that, if you do not agree, there won’t be a place on the team for you next
year.
What should you do? What can you do? Do you go along with him, or tell him you
won’t do it? This is where your true character is revealed. It’s times like these when the rotary
club 4-way test comes in very handy. To use the 4-way test in this situation ask yourself, ‘Is it
truth?’ In this case it is not truth because steroids are illegal. ‘Is it fair to all concerned?’ Taking
steroids is definitely not fair. It is not fair to your other teammates trying out for the team and it
is not fair to the teams you play because you have an unfair advantage. ‘Is it beneficial to all?’
No, it is not, because steroids can be harmful to you and to those who are close to you. ‘Will it
build goodwill and better friendships?’ There is no way steroids will build better friendships. In
fact, the side effects will do the opposite….
