BOOK REVIEW OF: Ender’s Game BY Lance Corporal SNM
Audience: I would recommend this book to all Marines who enjoy reading science fiction fantasy novels. Ender’s game is an award winning novel based solely on strategy in the battlefield. This book is perfect for squad leaders in the infantry side of the Marine Corps, to see a different side of strategic formations in war. Actions: The action is what takes place at Battle School before Ender is flown to Command School. This includes his troubles with the fantasy game on his tablet, the struggle to learn new skills as he trains to become a commander, and all the conflicts he comes into face with. The events establish the characters and set up events for the battle with the buggers. Synopsis: The thesis of Ender’s Game: Orson Scott Card uses Ender as a representation of the ethical decisions that people face every day. Ender is faced with the harsh reality of his mass genocide, but because of his morals he makes the decision to redeem himself. Throughout the book Ender faces problems that people go through every day. For example, faced with bullying, harsh decisions that could cause havoc in the workplace, in this case, Ender’s platoon. Ender’s Game takes place in modern day earth. Ender, the main character, is a child genius with two older siblings. Ender has a special monitor installed in is membrane that allows heads of the military to see everything as Ender sees it. Ender is chosen by Colonel Graff to attend battle school which is set place far from earth, where Ender will soon control the entire space fleet on an attack against the buggers. Key Characters: Ender is the main character, giving the novel’s name “Enders Game”, Ender is a child genius with two older siblings which are also child geniuses.
